Real Friends and BIG surprises!

Before I get started I'd just like to give an update on how the hospital is coming along. As of yesterday I have my picc in and it is now officially usable. I still have my IV in because they say I can't take it out until they get consent from my doctor (who is always doing something so they can never get a hold of him). So I am going to give him a talking to when he comes by this morning. He is usually pretty considerate, so I am sure I will be able to convince him to let me get this iv out of my wrist. It just makes everything twice as hard, especially when my iv and the picc are in the same arm. Oh well I'll see what I can do. But anyways... I'M FEELING BETTER :) and that is all the really matters.

Well not really. Without my friends and family I would not be feeling better today.

Yesterday did not start off the best. I did have my Grandma and my Aunt Spring bring me some sonic and visit with me. But then it came time to my picc. I have had one before, in fourth grade. So I figured it would be fine despite all the problems my sister has had getting hers in. But then there was my iv fiasco, which left my sore and crying because it took 3 nurses and 4 pokes to get 1 iv which ended up being in the worst spot ever, THE SIDE OF MY WRIST! So that made me just a bit nervous for my picc. Then definitely not helping the situation any my dad starts talking about everything that has happened with Brianne's. But with help from Willy and Kim they talked to me the whole time and I was able to get through. Honestly the worst part was probably the valume they used to calm me down. After my picc though I was good because I need Dante and his brothers Isaac and Johnny were coming to visit me with a 'big surprise.' Boy was I surprised!

They brought me my best friend (Yoyo), his brothers (Hannibal and Meseker) and one of my other friends (Charles Christopher Hicks). For those of you who do not know Yoyo and Chris, they are some pretty big guys... no scratch that, they are really big guys. hint the 'big' surprise. I was so happy to see them. I missed my best friend and chris. I haven't seen them since school got out. I was so super excited to see Mess and Meana too! Meana just graduated from Valley and is going off to Duke for college and Mess graduated a while ago. I was so happy to see them walk into my room. I had the biggest smile on my face the whole time! :D

And the exciting thing is, is that a bunch of them are coming back today, plus some of my other friends. aka best friend alexis, britton and anthony! and maybe even sha sha and gabs!

So my point is, you really figure out who your true friends are and who really loves you when you are in a time of need. They are the ones that comment on every single thing you post on facebook and leave you messages on your wall telling you it will be okay and that they love you. They are the ones that will text you all day long and even stay up late for you when you can't sleep because of treatments and iv's. They are the ones that will come and visit you in your hospital room even though they could be at home playing video games or even though they are greatly afraid of hospitals. They are the ones that go out of their way to get you food or open your food for you because your arm is sore. Or even take of your band-aid because your arm wont bend that way. They ones who promise to come visit you everyday.

That's how you know. Everyone has some friends like that. Somehow I got blessed with TONS of them and I can't express how much I LOVE them and appreciate every little thing they do for me. It means the world to me.

  1. Miss Cortney, Aunt Landa Loves You. I have been checking on you everyday. I have had a sore throat so visiting you at the hospital is out of the question. Know that you are in my prayers and my thoughts. I am so happy that your friends are so thoughtful and kind to you, They are as good as medicine, sometimes they are tough to take and yet they do us a world of good. Get Better and home soon. Love, Hugs and Kisses to you. Landa
